Analysis of elasto-plastic thin-shell structures using layered plastic modeling and absolute nodal coordinate formulation

A new elasto-plastic thin-shell finite element of the absolute nodal coordinate formulation allowing for large deformation and rotation is proposed based on Kirchhoff–Love theory layered plastic model. The von Mises yield criterion plane-stress with linear isotropic hardening adopted in constitutive description material. Owing to constraint, special treatment should be given stress update algorithm plasticity. To accommodate plasticity formulation, Gauss-point integration inserted into thickness produce internal force. Then, Jacobian forces deduced by deriving consistent tangent moduli. accurately track load–displacement equilibrium path buckling analysis thin shells, arc-length method used. dynamics shells also studied using generalized-alpha algorithm. Finally, several static dynamic examples are presented verify accuracy formulation.
